Where to eat, shop and drink in Leith
Ok, we may be slightly biased but Leith was recently named one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world by Time Out! The Bohemia studio has been based in Leith, Edinburgh for the past 8 years and we love its creative energy and strong community spirit.
Leith is on the north coast of Edinburgh and was once a thriving port and docks. With a rich history of trade and culture it was known for its lively and cosmopolitan atmosphere - at one point it had the most cinemas in Europe! More recently Leith was made famous by Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting and the film Sunshine of Leith. Today Leith has a vibrant and diverse community and is home to many artisans and independent businesses.
Over the past couple of years we’ve seen lots of new independents open in the area, adding to the strong mix of established and well loved bars, cafes and venues. Here are just a few of our favourite places to eat, shop and drink in Leith.

Hideout Cafe - We can never resist the layered honey cake in this tucked away cafe with an awesome collection of retro tape players. thehideoutcafe.co.uk
Twelve Triangles - Find delicious artisan bread, pastries and doughnuts (with incredible fillings like blackcurrant + violet), in this plant filled bakery and coffee shop on Duke Street. twelvetriangles.com
Leith Depot - Grab a pint in this live music venue and all round community hub. Leith Depot has an uncertain future as property developers have recently bought the 1930s tram depot building it currently occupies. The ongoing Save Leith Walk campaign has done a huge amount of work so far to save the building from demolition. leithdepot.com
